Discovery

Market-driven as the guide, customer demand as the goal, technology development as the core.

The design and application of better genes in bacteria, filamentous fungus and yeast via the tools of molecular biology consisting of two major parts: the upstream processing and the downstream processing. The upstream processing refers to gene synthesis, gene sequencing, gene editing, gene cloning, gene recombination (plasmid/vector), and gene expression while the downstream processing involves the high through screening (HTS), fermentation, bioconversion and chemo-enzymatic process, as well as the separation and purification of products.

Design-Build-Test-Learning(Synthetic biology) is the guiding concept of research work, using standard biological elements(which can be modified, reconstructed or even created) that have been partitioned from nature, and rational (designed) recombination (or even synthesis from scratch) to obtain new organisms. There are two main aspects. The first is “from top to bottom”: the modification of existing biological systems by redesigning and modifying them to add new functions. The second is “from bottom to top”: the creation of artificial life systems that do not yet exist in nature by designing and constructing new biological elements, cassettes and systems.
